I do not know about you, but there has been many times I have tried to open a coconut and failed miserably.  My usual technique includes smashing it somehow.  Lots of times there has been hammers involved.  Once  or twice I have tried a machete.  The latest debacle included use of gravity and a stairwell at a hotel in L.A.

For years it seemed difficult, and then just a couple of weeks ago I found out how simple it really is.  Now getting at the yummy insides takes less than a minute.  All you need is:

• a sharp chef’s knife
• a cutting board
• and a coconut
